Pair of magnificent carved giltwood mirror frames in the form of a crowned bicephal eagle. Spain, 1890s
Highly decorative frames with double-headed eagles surmounted by a crown, symmetric wings and tails holding the central circular mirror and the bird claws holding a ball. The perimeter of the glass mirror is decorated by a leafed pattern.
These hand carved wood mirrors were gilded with gold leaf, they have beautifully carved details and a nice aged patina.
Materials: Carved wood covered with gesso, gold leaf gilt wood and original glass mirrors. Dimensions Height 34” in. x Width 25” in. x Depth 5.12” in.
